**Deputy Facilities Director**

REOUIREMENTS:

- A Bachelor's degree or higher earned degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, but significant experience working in managing facilities or operations will also be considered.
- At least five (5) years in managing facilities.
- At least three (3) years of successful administrative experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability in operating and utilizing facility management software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or similar software.

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations and Maintenance/Chief of Operations

EFFECTIVE DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: July 1, 2024

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 days per year

SALARY: $85,000-$90,000 depending on experience, $90,000-$95,000 with Bachelor's degrees

PERF'ORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in monitoring of school construction and renovation projects.
- Coordinates with the City of Lowell Public Works Department on building and maintenance plans and projects.
- Deals with administrative problems encountered in construction, installation, alteration and maintenance work.
- Assists Director of Operations and Maintenance with the oversight of all building maintenance and repairs.
- Supervises craftsman and mechanics employed to effect repairs to buildings.
- Monitors maintenance repair and review service contracts.
- Assist the Director of Operations and Maintenance with developing and monitoring short and long term maintenance and capital improvement plans.
- Assists and advises the Director of Operations and Maintenance on ascertaining and reporting on the nature and probable cost of major repairs and insures that they are made promptly and according to specifications.
- Assists the Director of Operations and Maintenance in furnishing details and specifications for securing competitive prices for the purchase of supplies.
- Supervises and instructs building custodians, senior custodians, and Area Facilþ Managers.
- Coordinates custodial services for other uses of school buildings,
- Assists and advises in establishing indoor air quality plans, when needed.
- Checks the quantity and inspects quality of supplies delivered.
- Assists in the preparation of the annual budget for maintenance of K-8 buildings.
- Assists in making recommendations on projects and areas where funds should be budgeted or requested for improvement, repair, replacement, and renovation.
- Prepares reports and makes recommendations as may be required.
- Evaluates employee performance and makes recommendations for change of status.
- Either directs, assists in, and/or makes recommendations related to how to best utilize staff services to maintain satisfaction in the areas of staffing, discipline, and other day-to-day procedures.
- Assists in the preparation of reports on the condition of schools, furnishings and equipment.
- Provides additional reports and makes recommendations as may be required.
- Maintains working relationships with city departments including police, fire, purchasing, public works, and parks.
- Attends school committee meetings and other meetings as requested by the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Operations and Maintenance.
- Serves as evaluator for Area Facility Managers.
- Supervises the production of reports and the tracking of needed repairs for all facilities and reports building concerns in a timely fashion.
- Serves on the building safety review team.
- Responds to night calls and alarms for all facilities in the District as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and Maintenance and Chief Operating Officer or his/her designee.
