Position Summary:
The School of Dentistry seeks an organized, reliable and customer-service oriented person to serve as its Central Services Supervisor. This position is a working supervisor of a team tasked with the responsibility of issuing dental instruments supplies and equipment, processing 300-400 dental cassettes daily, sterilizing instruments, maintaining and ordering equipment and supplies, and maintaining inventory control in the school's student clinic; however, supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Coordinate schedules, assigns work, conduct trainings, performance evaluations, progressive discipline (as appropriate and necessary), and recruitment. Ensures assignments are completed and timelines are met. Responsible for work quality ensuring sterile and infection control processing protocols, and guidelines are followed. Provides input to management on personnel issues and daily operations. Must have a current central services certification (or equivalent).

- Leadership & management of day-to-day operations, successful community-building strategies, conflict mediation & extremely strong interpersonal skills, & sound decision-making & evaluative skills (required)
- Experience in working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and/or distractions. (required)
- Supervisory experience in establishing work assignments, schedules, conducting performance evaluations, progressive discipline and recruitment. (preferred)
- Working knowledge of University and School purchasing processes, systems, forms, policies and procedures and navigate the systems to purchase needed equipment and supplies. (preferred)
- Skill in performing repetitive work according to set procedures, sequence, timing and place (required)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. (required)
- Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect importance of job responsibilities. (required)
- Skilled in written, verbal, and interpersonal communications. Ability to convey complex technical information and instructions clearly and concisely, to individuals and within the organization at various levels and diverse population. (required)
- Skill in writing correct routine business correspondence i.e. brief transmittal memoranda, internal operating procedures and performance evaluations. (required)
- Ability to maintain a customer-focused attitude while handling competing tasks. (required)
- Skill in interacting diplomatically with the public (primarily dental students) in a high volume continuous public contact setting. (required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:

- Bachelor's Degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training (preferred)
- Central Service Technician certification awarded by a NCCA accredited organization. Current (required)

Special Conditions of Employment:

- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
- TB Test: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory TB test.
- CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse".
- Ability to work some evenings for routinely scheduled night clinics and occasional weekends for state board exams and Clinic Pride Days. (required)
