The Elementary Out of School Time (OST) Director works with the Academic Leadership Teams across our three campuses to lead the Extended Day Program (EDP) and Childcare Subsidy Program at the Elementary School, and Afterschool Clubs at the Middle and High Schools. Extended Day Programs include before school and after school programming Monday-Friday, full day programming, summer school programs at the elementary and middle school campuses, and afterschool clubs (which include partnerships with outside organizations such as Girls on the Run). The Out of School Time Director will report to the Senior Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment, and will directly manage the Out of School Time Manager and Out of School Time Coordinator.

**The responsibilities of the OST Director include**:

- Leading, planning, and managing the Elementary School Extended Day programming:_
- Plan and develop educational programming that aligns with daytime topics or themes; e.g. unit plans, daily schedule, elective activities, communication to families, showcases of learning.
- Meet regularly with the Elementary School Principal to work on program management and improvement.
- Ensure consistency of school culture across daytime and extended day programming.
- Demonstrate effective instruction to EDP staff when appropriate.
- Oversee the elementary school programming including:

- Implementation of homework assistance;
- Development of after-school electives, clubs or activities;
- Implementation of acceleration strategies for individuals and/or groups of students.
- Foster partnerships with community organizations, museums, and businesses that support or enhance elementary after-school programming.
- Support the recruitment and selection process for EDP staff in collaboration with the Talent Team; provide necessary training and support through on-boarding process.

- Plan and develop educational and recreational programming for elementary and middle school students that align with our academic priorities and student interests.
- Demonstrate effective instruction to EDP staff when appropriate.
- Oversee the elementary school programming including:

- Implementation of homework assistance;
- Development of after-school electives, clubs or activities;
- Implementation of acceleration strategies for individuals and/or groups of students.
- Foster partnerships with community organizations, museums, and businesses that support or enhance summer school programming.
- Support the recruitment and selection process for summer staff in collaboration with the Talent Team; provide necessary training and support through on-boarding process.
- DC Child Care Subsidy Program:_
- Ensure compliance with the DC Child Care Subsidy Program, including staff and student records and facility safety.
- Ensure before and after school programming is in compliance with city regulations.
- Work with families to guide them through the voucher process.
- Conduct interviews and interpret policies and procedures to obtain data for documentation and verification of information needed in determining eligibility.
- Attend mandatory training by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in Washington, DC.
- Lead and collaborate with other team members in preparation for monitoring visits
- Support all licensing requirement activities as set forth by OSSE.
- Family Involvement:_
- Keep parents informed about EDP programming and the progress of their students in EDP.
- Support families as needed throughout the registration process.
- Facilitate the volunteer efforts of family and community members with students.
- Respond to all parent communication within 24-48 hours.
- Serve as a liaison between families and the finance team.
- Site-level Administration:_
- Manage the OST Manager at the middle school by ensuring the effective design and operation of the middle school EDP programs.
- Manage and direct the responsibilities of and the OST Coordinator at the elementary school.
- Managem part-time ES EDP staff.
- Monitor and supervise daily ES EDP activities throughout the building, responding to staff, student, and facility needs.
- Approve hours and time off requests for EDP staff.
- Ensure all ES classrooms are clean and well organized at the end of the day.
- Record all EDP incidents or behavior reports.
- Work with the Elementary School Culture Coach to determine appropriate consequences or next steps for students; meet with students and parents as appropriate to explain the situation and the consequences.
- Accomplish administrative duties, including—but not limited to— organization of classes, attendance entry, handling of incoming forms, supply orders (snack, academic supplies), invoices/payroll, etc. in a timely and effective manner.
- Monitor recess, fieldwork, and outdoor activities to ensure student safety.
