**ABOUT THE AGENCY**

Project Sentinel is a non-profit civil rights agency that has advanced fair housing goals since 1976 by counseling and investigating complaints of housing discrimination. We seek to develop and promote fairness and equality of opportunity in all areas of housing for all persons. In addition to fair housing investigation and enforcement the agency also has a separate program that provides comprehensive Tenant/Landlord counseling and dispute resolution services to tenants, landlords and managers of rental properties. The agency currently makes its services available to 2.5 million people in five diverse Bay Area counties: Alameda, Sacramento, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Stanislaus.

**THE POSITION**

The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for organizing and implementing a long-term outreach plan with the goal of increasing the agency’s visibility to populations protected by state and federal law from housing discrimination. This position is best served by those who are bilingual in Spanish. This position is hybrid/remote.

**SALARY AND BENEFITS**

This position is a full time, 40-hour/week, non-exempt position. Salary is $28.00 - 31.50 per hour. Benefits include medical/dental/vision care, generous vacation time, including floating holidays, and sick time.

**TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

The typical tasks of the Community Outreach Coordinator may include but are not limited to the following:

- Design and implement with staff in their jurisdictions a quarterly community outreach action plan for the fair housing program, ensuring completion of annual contract goals, including FHIP goals.
- Participate and coordinate staff in planning specific outreach activities such as presentations, community events and tabling, and fair housing events, e.g., the Fair Housing Symposium
- Develop and update outreach and public relation materials, in consultation with the Community Outreach Strategist, as needed.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, especially those that serve minority populations.
- Speak in the community to inform and educate on fair housing issues, including city/county Fair Housing proclamations during Fair Housing month.
- Community involvement, education, and liaison with government officials and other organizations are integral parts of the job.
- Report on outreach activity for our HUD FHIP and EOI grant(s) and maintain oversight and completion of the Outreach Log in the Fair Housing database (Filemaker)
- Coordinate needed orders for supplies and outreach collateral when inventory is low, with the Community Outreach Strategist
- Serve as the Fair Housing Coordinator for the bi-annual Fair Housing Symposium
- Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED SKILLS**
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent of at least 1 year of experience.
- Capacity to work and think independently, proactively, and without close supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including capacity to present (in person and virtual) educational information to the public in a clear and dynamic manner.
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain accurate records.
- Creative problem-solving skills and a strong desire to educate the community.
- Event planning and coordination strongly desired

**SUPERVISION**

This position reports to the Fair Housing Director or other staff as assigned by the Executive Director. This position does not exercise supervision.

**REQUIRED**

Valid driver’s license, current valid car insurance, and reliable transportation to outreach and office locations. Travel to our service areas includes the counties of: Santa Clara, San Mateo, Alameda, Stanislaus, Sacramento Region, and Placer as needed. Mileage is reimbursed according to federal rate.
