**Duties**:

- Advises the Statistical Official on Evidence Act activities and recommends processes, policies, and procedures to support the Department of Justice's (DOJ) implementation of the Evidence Act.
- Provides expert analysis on the impact on Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) and DOJ-wide operations and programs under areas that fall under the Statistical Official (SO) responsibilities per Office of Management and Budget (OMB) memorandum M-19-23, notably related to developing data quality standards, confidentiality protection standards, and statistical techniques.
- Conducts program analysis related to development, implementation and improvement of DOJ's statistical policies.
- Serves as the DOJ technical expert and primary contact for matters of statistical policy under the SO's purview.
- Serves as an authoritative expert in analyzing Evidence Act matters and advising on standards, regulations, or policies that impact BJS and DOJ-wide programs, policies, and procedures.
- Advises the SO and BJS management on needed BJS actions to implement DOJ policies and orders.
- Provides expert feedback on draft OMB regulations and other guidance materials related to SO responsibilities, including data quality, confidentiality, access and dissemination.
- Reviews legislation, OMB guidance and other materials to assess implications for BJS and DOJ related to statistical policy matters that fall under the SO's authority.
- Reviews DOJ policies and makes recommendations for necessary changes to comply with the Evidence Act.

**Qualifications**:
**Specialized Experience**:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Examples of specialized experience include:

- Provides expert analysis and advice on complex statistical program and policy issues, for example, Evidence Act program issues; and/or
- Serves as an expert on statistical laws, policies and procedures and provides recommendations for impact on agency or organization operations; and/or
- Develops data quality standards, confidentiality protection standards, and statistical techniques; and/or
- Conducts program analysis related to development, implementation, and improvement of statistical policies.

**Technical Qualifications**:
Applicants who meet the basic entry and minimum qualification requirements, as described above, will be further evaluated on the following technical qualifications:

- Working knowledge of statistical principles and practices.
- Technical expertise in reviewing and drafting policy documents.
- Expertise in analyzing laws, regulations and policies and analytic methods to provide expert analysis for impact on agency operations.
- Expertise in developing and implementing processes and procedures.
- Skill in making presentations and preparing a variety of written materials on statistical policies for a wide range of audiences.
- All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

**Education**:
There is no education requirement for this position.

**Additional information**:

- This position may be eligible for telework per agency policy.
- **This position has a duty station of Washington, D.C. The selectee will be required to physically report to the OJP office building at least four (4) days per bi-weekly pay period** and may incorporate leave and official travel plans into this reporting requirement. The office director or supervisor may request the selectee's presence in the office more frequently, as determined by the needs of the office. The selectee will be responsible for covering all commuting-related travel expenses. OJP employees are eligible for one transportation benefit - parking or the Department of Justice (DOJ) transit subsidy.
