**Job Title**: Exhibitions Manager

**Status**: Unrepresented, exempt, regular status, full-time, benefits eligible

**Salary Range**:$80,000 - $100,000

**Position Summary**: Reporting to the Chief Curator, and in collaboration with other museum departments, the Exhibitions Manager oversees the planning and implementation of all museum exhibitions.

**Working Conditions**: Typical museum environment to include: extended periods of working at a desk, including use of a computer; interacting with the public on a daily basis, including special events; occasional lifting of heavy objects; occasional climbing ladders; occasional operation of power tools and farm equipment. The position also will require occasional travel to conferences and meetings. Some activities take place outside of regular business hours.

**Reports to**: Chief Curator

**Supervises**: This position plans, assigns and approves tasks and responsibilities as supervisor of exhibition volunteers, docents, and interns. This position also plans and supervises the work of outside contractors.

**General Responsibilities**
- Create implementation schedules for all exhibitions, establish milestones for timely completion, and regularly check adherence to deadlines, working with vendors, Chief Curator, staff, and volunteers to meet deadlines.
- Assist the Chief Curator in the creation and updating of a comprehensive, long-term Exhibitions Calendar.
- Assist the Chief Curator in the development of exhibition budgets and keep projects on schedule and within budget. Monitor actuals versus budgets to ensure that expenses stay within budget, and flag overages on a timely basis. Work closely with Finance and Development to ensure budgets stay accurate and current.
- Use project management best practices, such as detailed project schedules, budgets, and communication platforms.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Representative Tasks & Major Responsibilities**
- Act as point of contact for Exhibition Design contractor, ensuring feedback from Chief Curator and Executive staff is solicited and incorporated in a timely manner.
- Schedule all museum-wide Exhibition meetings and regular check-ins related to the implementation of specific projects and update the Museum calendar accordingly.
- Plan and implement all in-house exhibitions and permanent collection gallery changes striving to anticipate issues and solve problems as they arise.
- Manage the collation of exhibition-related text for wall labels, title walls, panels, credit lines, and other printed exhibition support materials, arranging editing and design.
- Draft and negotiate artist, guest curator, and any other necessary professional service agreements, MOUs and contracts.
- In collaboration with the Finance Department, ensure the timely processing of all exhibition contract-related payments and invoices to individuals and institutions.
- Coordinate and contract with venues for traveling exhibitions.
- Oversee maintenance of exhibitions on public display to secure working order.
- Maintain inventory of exhibit furniture, tech, cases, etc

**Minimum Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes)**
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in art history, museum studies, arts administration, or a related field.
- Experience: At least three years administrative and project-management experience in a museum environment, or the equivalent education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining departmental and/or project budgets.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and professionally under pressure while sustaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to lead and facilitate cross-departmental teams while maintaining a great deal of organization and advance planning.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and meet timelines and budgets.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure while prioritizing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work well with artists and curators.
- Ability to collaborate with internal colleagues and external partners and create ways to meet mutual goals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, in particular Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Planner, and Excel and collection management systems.

**Preferred (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attitudes)**
- Spanish language proficiency
- Design experience
- Preparator and/or art handling experience
