**Duties**
- Contribute to the Agency's mission through direct and personal service to the public.
- Speak with beneficiaries about their rights under the Social Security laws.
- Gather facts and evidence to establish eligibility for benefits, and make critical decisions to determine the amount of benefits paid to individuals.
- Conduct interviews with the public to obtain, clarify, and verify information about initial and continuing eligibility for retirement, survivors, disability, health insurance benefits, and eligibility for supplemental security income including State supplements.
- Resolve discrepancies, clarify issues and make final decisions for initial and post-entitlement for benefits and payments; adjudicate and authorize entitlement or disallowance actions at all levels of difficulty and complexity under programs administered by SSA.
- Use state-of-the-art computer technology to access and update information about claims.**QUALIFICATIONS**:_
- For GS-5, three years of general experience that demonstrates the ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize work; and communicate effectively orally and in writing._
- For GS-7, one year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include assisting individuals with establishing their entitlement to receive benefits; or adjudicating, authorizing or reconsidering claims; representing programs before the general public and providing information through the media; or evaluating benefit program operations to assess the integrity and quality; or interpreting program requirements and formulating policies, procedures and guidelines._
- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: Education may be substituted for experience or may be combined with experience and will be made in accordance with the OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions. Selectees who use education to qualify will be asked to provide official transcripts upon selection._
- For GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor’s degree. One year of study is defined as 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours._
- For GS-7: One full year of graduate level education in a related field OR a Bachelor’s Degree with superior academic achievement in a related field._

Pay: $46,020.00 - $69,729.00 per year
