**Read 180 Instructor - Job Description**
**Role and Purpose**:The Read 180 Instructor assists in identifying students in need of literacy support, assess literacy needs, develops action plans, and provides tiered instruction in reading through the use of the READ 180 program.
**Major Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Trained in the use of READ 180 curriculum and program
- Develop a pacing guide aligned with Innovation’s school calendar
- Assist in identifying students in need of literacy support through the administration of the Reading MAP Test.
- Under the supervision of the Language & Literacy Department Chair, plan and implement daily lessons according to the Read 180 curriculum guide
- Under the supervision of the Language & Literacy Department Chair provide tiered support through the use of READ 180 program
- Under the supervision of the Language & Literacy Department Chair, maintain accurate attendance records, ensure that grades are updated regularly and are aligned with Innovation category weights, etc., for all literacy support classes
- Systematically assess student progress toward meeting literacy benchmarks through progress monitoring
- Provide additional 1:1 support, or small group instruction to students that require more intensive supports
- Collaborate with the ELL Support Specialist to address the literacy needs of ELL students, as needed
- Regularly meet with staff at Department and/or Grade Team meetings, to serve as a resource for staff to ensure that curriculum is accessible for students receiving tiered literacy interventions
- Attend professional development to further enhance the growth of Innovation’s literacy program
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Associate’s degree or demonstrated progress toward the Associate’s Degree, and relevant work experience
- Certification as a teaching assistant or reasonable progress to certification
- Document completion of the following workshops: DASA, Child Abuse Identification, and School Violence Intervention and Prevention or obtain documentation of completion within 6 months of starting at Innovation
- Three years working with adolescents in a school or similar setting
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree and two years’ related experience is preferred
- Three years of teaching or teaching assistant experience
- Demonstrated experience working with linguistically, culturally, and academically diverse student populations, particularly underprepared high school or college students
**Immediate Supervisor**:
Principal and/or his designee and ELA Department Chairperson
**Salary Range**:
$50,000 - $60,000 per year
