**Job Overview**:
Under the direction of the Director, the ED Tech performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related procedures in caring for the needs of the patients. He/She assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
**Qualifications**:
- Required:_
- High School Diploma
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association only
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and demonstrated writing skills
- Proven track record of compassionate care & superior service and a commitment to providing healthcare excellence always
- Preferred:_
- College degree
- One (1) year of Nurse Aide/Assistant or EMT experience
- At least one (1) year experience as a phlebotomist or EKG Technician with healthcare background
**Certifications and Licenses**:
- BLS certification through American Heart Association
**Scheduling Requirements**:
- Nights 6:30PM - 7:30AM
- Schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs
- Full-Time (37.5 hrs)
- 2 Week Mandatory Orientation
**Essential Functions**:
- Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, B/P, height/weight and intake/output measurements accurately reports findings outside of normal range to RN
- Provides assistance with ADL s to assigned patients
- Provides assistance with nutritional needs of the patients, including feeding, mealtime
- assistance/set-up, supplying fluids, refilling water pitchers, and delivering supplemental snacks
- Lifts, moves, turns, and transports patients out of their bed, chair, stretcher, wheelchair, portable mechanical lift, etc, maintaining proper body mechanics
- Performs laboratory procedures as noted: venipuncture, EKG, GTT, blood culture, urine collection procedures and other laboratory procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse
- Demonstrates the 4 C s of Commitment, Compassion, Competence, and Communication
