This Demand Planning position is responsible for creating the System demand plans for their respective business units. The Demand Planner leverages demand planning processes and models for all customers, and product lines, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, analysts, and other sources.

Demand planner uses advanced analytics tools to develop demand forecasting algorithms, what-if scenario models, cause-effect tracking, etc.

The Demand Planner is the integration point between the tops down macro/strategic forecast and bottoms up sales committed forecast. This position decides the number of units, type of units to forecast for the 24 month rolling horizon. They lead the demand dialogue each S&OP demand review meeting month for their respective business units and products. They work with the Executive S&OP committee to consolidate all BUs into an SPG demand plan and identify and mitigate any missing demand across the corporation.

Key Functions:

- Develop demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function.
- Develop and maintain the Demand forecasting algorithms using advanced analytics software as the primary forecasting and scenario analysis tool.
- Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
- Analyze alternate customer scenarios, and translate them into alternate Business Unit forecasts through advanced algorithms
- Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.
- Interact with sales, marketing, and Business Unit finance to understand demand forecast drivers and their impact on each Business Unit.
- Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with Sales, Marketing and Customer Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
- Provide input to the Supply Planning organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
- Closely coordinate and communicate customer action plans with supply planning.
