**Duties**:
This position is located in the Office of Enforcement, which serves the public interest by ensuring effective regulations and protecting customers through understanding markets and their regulation, timely identifying and remedying market problems, assuring compliance with Commission rules and regulations, and detecting and crafting remedies to address market manipulation and other non-compliance issues.

As an Economist, some of your typical work assignments may include:

- Presenting findings and recommendations of analytical reports, presentations and documents orally.
- Preparing written analytical reports, documentations, and presentations with findings and recommendations.
- Researching the intricacies of physical energy markets and energy trading in the context of market rules.
- Analyzing and managing large volumes of data using a coding language such as SAS, R, or Python.

In addition to the education required for this position, you must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 level or you can qualify on education.

**Specialized experience is defined as**: experience using statistical software, such as SAS, R or Python to manage and analyze large data sets, and make findings or recommendations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
