Major Position Responsibilities:
**This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite.**

**Summary**: Designs, develops, and implements nondestructive testing (NDT) to evaluate the properties and conformance of a material, component, or system without causing damage. Records, analyzes, and reports test results. Maintains & follows test documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.

**Essential Responsibilities**:

- Set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
- Develop specific calibrations and tests.
- Document results in accordance with the specification.
- Identifies errors and defects in equipment.
- Use of ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process.
- Conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
- Maintain or develop procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary.
- Train subordinate personnel in the various NDT disciplines and techniques.
- Maintain documentation for training and experience hours.

**Impact of the Role**:

- Requires full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.
- Completes a variety of atypical assignments.
- Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments.
- Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments.
- Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience

Basic Qualifications:
**Education and/or Experience**:

- Required: Vocational/Technical Training Degree
- Discpline/Major: Technical School or an applicable skilled trade program
- 4 - 6 years experience in a similar position

**Additional Certifications**:

- NAS 410 Certification Level 2: State issued industrial radiographer certificate - Ability to achieve Level I or Level 2 certification in alignment with NAS 410 standards, through education, training, and testing, and perform the required Level 2 requirements

- Technical expertise
- Manuel Dexterity

**Preferred**:

- Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.

**Physical Demands**:

- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 45lbs.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
- Work primarily in climate-controlled environment with mínimal safety/health hazard potential.
- Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
