**Hampton University Staff**:
The Assistant Director for Student Engagement is energetic, flexible and provides leadership and supervision to Hampton University students. The Assist Director for Student Engagement serves as the operations and recreational specialist who supervises students during structured and unstructured evening programming and events. The Assistant Director works under the direction of the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership and is responsible for managing student activities and event clean-up in the Hampton University Student Center on weekdays, weekends and holidays. Areas of emphasis include the Student Center Fitness Center, bowling alley, aerobics room, game room, Pirate Pantry, and the movie room.

**Job Duties**:
**Serves as the Operations and recreational specialist**:

- Reports to the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership and others as directed.
- Manages the overall operations, maintenance, safety and cleanliness of the gym, bowling alley, movie room, Pirate Pantry, and game room.
- Assists the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership with on-site supervision of events and activities at night and on weekends.
- Responsible for arranging, planning, marketing, and evaluating student center programs.
- Responsible for producing reports and conducting program evaluations for student center programming.
- Develops, implements, and supports a wide variety of both new and existing student activities both on and off campus.
- Assists with the management of all aspects of Pirate Pantry including stocking, budgeting, marketing and reporting.
- Assists the Director of Involvement and Leadership with evaluating the effectiveness of student organizations as they fulfill their mission and purpose.
- Assists the Director of Student Involvement and Leadership with organizing data and composing monthly, semester and yearly reports.
- Submits weekly maintenance reports for designated areas within the student center.
- Submits the monthly utilization and operations report for the Pirate Pantry.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree (four year college or university); Desired: Sports Management, Higher Education, or related area preferred. Three years related experience in student activities, specific experience in leadership preferred.
