Not only have we replaced motors that used to be heavy polluters, but these classic boats have been saved from being junk in someone’s back yard or trash in a landfill. These classic boats have been repurposed for everyone to enjoy. Retro Boat Rentals ATX currently has a fleet of 8 vintage fiber glass boats and 2 Duffy Boats. Retro Boat Rentals ATX is open 7 days a week and year-round (weather dependent). We are looking for a positive energy, curious, passionate, and highly collaborative individual to join our team. *Position Summary* The Retro Boat Rental Assistant Boat Technician will share a responsibility for the overall day-to-day operation of Retro Boat Rentals ATX, during scheduled hours. The aforementioned operation includes, but is not limited to;
- Perform required maintenance on our Retro Boats utilizing Torqeedo technology.
- Basic Electrical and Mechanical systems
- Perform on-the-fly maintenance during rental hours
- Tracking equipment and inventory across retro boat fleet
- Complete scheduled quality control maintenance routines on the fleet
- Communicate with Head Boat Technician and General Manager about status of repairs and inventory needs
- Cleanliness and preventative upkeep of the retro boats
- Communication of and being able to abide by all safety procedures set in place by Retro Boat Rentals and Lady Bird Lake
- Responsibility of becoming proficient with FareHarbor (our scheduling platform) for scheduling changes.
- Communicate and maintain good relations with our partners at the Austin Rowing Club, The Perch, and Ro Fitness.
- Ability to learn the safety operation of rescuing boats in event of any potential stranded or stuck boats
- Comfort working outside in Texas year round *Retro Boat Rentals Boat Technician Expectations* You will be expected to be polite, courteous, and above all respectful around customers and other team members. Experience working on boats is a necessity for this job. The upkeep and the look of the boats is what draws people to our business Keep in mind, this is a unique activity to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and we have had numerous proposals on these boats. It’s our objective to make this a special experience for those people who choose to include us in their most cherished memories *Our Interview Process* Retro Boat Rentals ATX prides itself on being a small family business. You should prepare to go through two rounds of interviews. You can anticipate the interviews to be scheduled for 30-45 minutes. Since this position entails working closely with our small team, we will request that at minimum one of these interviews occur in person. _*Basic Qualifications:*_
- Minimum high school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Driver’s Licenses Required
- 1+ years mechanical & electrical experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- An attention to detail frame of mind *Compensation:* The position starts hourly at $20/hr. Details are based on electrical, technical, and boating backgrounds.
