**Director, Sensor Design & Development**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists and technicians.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Set clear objectives and performance expectations for the team.
- Communicate project status, risks, and milestones to stakeholders.
Research and Development:
- Review academic and industry research to incorporate best practices and state-of-the-art technologies.
- Design, develop, and test electrodes and related chemical formulations for ion detection in body fluids using advanced scientific instrumentation.
- Direct experimental processes to develop new and improved sensor technologies and manufacturing processes for medical devices.
- Identify emerging trends and technologies in sensor design and integrate them into the development roadmap.
- Oversee the integration and optimization of sensors in IVD devices and lead robust verification and validation activities to define performance characteristics.
- Ensure R&D activities comply with FDA’s QSR “Design Control” guidelines and IVDR requirements.
- Maintain thorough documentation of design processes, test results, and project developments.
Technical Advisory and Support:
- Advise management on technical issues related to existing products.
- Supervise chemists in collecting data to support product performance and development.
- Interface with a multidisciplinary engineering team on new product development and enhancements, and cost-saving proposals for existing products.
Project and Budget Management:
- Manage the implementation of the departmental budget and detailed project plans.
- Allocate resources within the team across multiple development projects to ensure deliverables are met on time and within budget.
**Required Skills**:
- Strong technical expertise in sensor design, simulation, and testing.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of applied science and high-volume manufacturing concepts.
- Creative problem solver with excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to motivate, retain, and mentor team members.
**Education**
Masters degree in chemistry or related field is required, with Ph.D. preferred.
**Experience**
5 years experience in scientific research and development of blood gas and electroylyte sensors, reagents, analyzers.
Pay: From $160,000.00 per year
