**JUVENILE PROBATION OFFICER**

**DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County Judiciary-Court Services**

**HIRING RATE: Indiana Judicial Salary Schedule for Probation Officers**

**POSITION TO BE FILLED: ASAP**

**HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: Monday
- Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evenings & overtime**

**LOCATION OF POSITION: Elkhart County Courts Building, Elkhart**

**JOB SUMMARY**:
**Responsible for completing preliminary investigations and direct supervision of assigned JUVENILE offenders.**

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:

- **Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, degree in Behavioral Sciences, Social Work, or Criminal Justice**:

- **Must possess Indiana Probation Officer Certification or able to obtain certification within six months of employment**:

- **Indiana Youth Assessment System (IYAS) certification from IOCS, or ability to obtain certification within six months of employment**:

- **Effective verbal and written communication skills**:

- **Proficiency with Windows based programs**:

- **Valid driver's license and reliable transportation**:

- **Must pass drug test and background check**
