**Activities Director** **Functions & Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs for facility residents.
- Completes resident’s assessments to provide tailored activity plan.
- Attends residents care plan meetings to update family on current progress.
- Schedules and directs the Activity Programs, movies, parties, games, etc. to ensure all residents’ assessed needs are met.
- Collaborates with administration, nursing staff, and other related departments in planning activities.
- Manages department budget and expenses to stay within that budget.
- Participates in orientation and in-service training programs related to the social, emotional, and recreational needs of the patients/residents.
- Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interests, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
- Maintains an activities schedule, projects, crafts, resources, etc.
- Makes routine In-room visits and assists with activities as necessary.
- Assists bed bound residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands, etc.
- Informs the Administrator of equipment/supply needs of the department.
- Serves committees of the facility as may be appointed by the Administrator.
- Orchestrates Resident Council meetings and delivery of compliments, concerns, resolutions, and requests as liaison between residents and staff.

**Requirements**:

- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English is a must.
- High School or Trade School graduate.
- Activity Director Certification
- Texas Nurse Assistant Certification is required.
- BLS/CPR Certification is required.
- Experience in a long-term care facility is preferred.
