**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Medical Assistant, Ancillary Services is responsible for interacting with patients in a healthcare setting, managing clinical and administrative tasks for the medical teams. Their primary function is clinic support for patient care and provider practice.

THIS POSITION MAY REQUIRE WORK TO BE PERFORMED AT MULTIPLE LOCATIONS / EMPLOYEE MUST BE ABLE TO WORK/COMMUTE TO ALL SITES.
- Functions under mínimal supervision from physician.
- Prepares patient for the appointment based upon the referring clinician’s order and sets up for the proper procedure to be performed.
- Ensures patients sign appropriate consents as needed.
- Escorts patients to the appropriate room and inquires about response to previous treatments per practice standards.
- Performs treatments safely and according to physician order.
- Appropriately prepares treatment area(s) per treatment protocol.
- Seeks advice from a physician when needed for treatment adjustment or complications.
- Clean exam rooms and equipment between patients.
- Maintain confidentiality and patient rights in interactions with patient/family and other Healthcare workers.
- Responsible for accuracy in clinical documentation and for accuracy in billing for services provided.
- Routes clinical documentation to referring clinician for final review and signature.
- Ensures that all necessary materials are in stock, all medical devices are calibrated and working properly prior to treatments.
- Keeps inventory on all needed supplies, including topical medications like Levulan.
- Works closely with the prior authorization, billing and clerical departments to ensure the schedule runs smoothly and all patient needs are met.
- Schedules patients’ treatments at appropriate intervals per clinician protocol.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 codes to provide patient with any needed information for their insurance.
- Demonstrates knowledge and safety practices of ancillary services as establish per protocol such as:

- Phototherapy
- XTRAC Laser
- Photodynamic Therapy
- Patch Testing
- Phlebotomy
- Performs dressing changes, suture removals, urine pregnancy tests as directed.
- Writes prescription refill requests and routes to referring physician.
- Provides and reviews appropriate instructions and educational material to patients regarding procedures or
- Provides patient with appropriate before and aftercare instructions depending on treatment.
- Responsible for assisting with OSHA daily, weekly, and monthly checks. Must have the ability to correctly maintain the OSHA logs.
- Utilize team leader, practice manager, and/or clinical resource manager as a resource.

**Other Responsibilities**:

- May be asked to cross cover and perform MA I and MA II tasks depending on the needs of the practice.
- Assist with daily room stocking and office tasks per OSHA guidelines.
- Sterilize and package medical instruments.

- Support APDerm’s mission and culture of high-quality standards by carrying out applicable policies, procedures and established industry standards, laws and regulations. Examples include adhering to privacy and data protection practices, ensuring a safe workplace, and reporting observed or suspected behavior and actions that do not meet APDerm standards.
- Complete all assigned required training by the deadline including, but not limited the Code of Conduct, Privacy & Data Security, and OSHA.

Qualifications:
**Minimum Qualifications**:

- High School Diploma / GED equivalent required.
- 2-5 years medical office experience required.
- Associate degree preferred or equivalent amount of education and experience.
- XTRAC certification and Phlebotomy experience preferred.
