**Title: Pre-Kindergarten Teacher**
Under the direction of the assigned Supervisor, Type 04 - Professional Educator License (PEL) teacher works collaboratively with the entire classroom team to implement a formal child screening process, a researched-based curriculum that addresses the Illinois Early Learning Standards, on-going child assessment, parent involvement and community collaboration.
This incumbent will be expected to promote and adhere to the workplace core capabilities of: accountability, continuous quality improvement, communication, competent people and clear priorities..
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** include but are not limited to the following. The organization reserves the right to add to, delete, change or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time.
- Coordinates and completes developmental screening of all children.
- Implements active supervision of children at all times and ensuring child safety.
- Teaches children in large groups, small groups, and individually. Teaches each class daily as scheduled and assigned.
- Completes regular quarterly assessments of each child’s learning. Generates Class Profile Report from Teaching Strategies GOLD to assess child outcomes.
- Welcomes parents/guardian in the program and seeks out their support and involvement. Holds parent-teacher conferences throughout the year, including an end-of-year transition conference. Plans and conducts parent-child activities for Family Fun nights and plans for field trips.
- Works collaboratively with all applicable staff, as well as community partners to ensure a seamless transition into kindergarten.
- Participates in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings for children with special needs.
- Maintains a comprehensive and ongoing education file for each child, including weekly observations in each area, examples of the child’s work, and developmental assessment.
- Maintains a safe and healthy classroom environment.
- Assures that classroom equipment, furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained and stored.

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS**:

- State of Illinois Professional Educator License registered in Cook County
- Hold an endorsement for early childhood education (self-contained general education) valid for the grades to be taught
- ESL endorsement
- Health examination for new employees part-time or full-time:

- Chapter 122 Article 24-5 of the Illinois School Code mandates that School Boards shall require of new employees’ evidence of physical fitness
