Duties

Analyzes monitoring, audit, and compliance activities, reporting results to identify risks related to grants and grantees. Recommends strategies to improve grant oversight and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Develops processes to identify gaps in OJP's data and reporting. Conducts trend analyses and recommends improvements.
Examines, reviews, studies and evaluates data, operations and transactions to recommend risk actions or methods. Determines feasibility and soundness, determines regulatory compliance.
As a technical expert, provides data and risk mitigation analysis, advice, and guidance on unprecedented issues with significant, interrelated variables requiring new policy development across diverse agency programs, functions, and operations.
Determines the scope of required analysis and develops appropriate sources of material to evaluate new or unique business activities. Compares past, present, and future operating conditions and costs of various business options, identifying and evaluating all elements affecting the organization's soundness, condition, and capability. Mitigates risks exceeding OJP's risk tolerance through discussions with organizational representatives.
Conducts risk measurement and valuation modeling as part of the risk analysis process. Defines and develops tentative conclusions and initial recommendations for new or unprecedented problems and issues.
Provides expert advice and guidance on broad projects and programs with national impact. Guides risk owners to adhere to risk management policies related to risks and controls. Leads the development of policies and procedures and makes recommendations for control assessments in response to identified enterprise risks. Recommends long-range program plans, goals, objectives, and milestones that drive substantive changes in the organization and administration of programs affecting large populations.
Designs and maintains an enterprise risk management (ERM) program. Directs the development of data, provision of expertise and insights, securing of legal opinions, preparation of position papers, and execution of comparable activities to support the development of OJP goals and objectives related to high levels of program management, development, and formulation.
Identifies pertinent issues and collects relevant data from various sources, drafting written products for program officials and other interested parties, including requests from Congress and the White House.

**Specialized Experience**:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

**Examples of specialized experience include**:
Serving as a technical expert in the interpretation of guidance on federal grant program evaluation, specifically, with a specialty in grant audit, monitoring or risk management.
Analyzing the monitoring, audit, and compliance activities, reporting results to identify risks related to grants and grantees.
Conducting analysis of data from various sources or direct risk assessments and business reviews of the financial and technical capabilities or performance of grantees/awardees.
