Provide leadership and coordination of the district’s implementation of Emergent Bilingual Newcomer instructional programs.

Work to strengthen school district relationships with refugee services and immigrant resources; and to facilitate positive parent, school, and scholar relationships.

**Experience**:
**Essential Job Functions**:

- Work collaboratively with administrators and teachers for instructional improvement, program continuity, and instructional fidelity for Secondary emergent bilingual newcomer programs.
- Assist the Multilingual Education director in planning and implementing effective instructional staff development and curriculum implementation for emergent bilingual newcomer scholars in PK-12th.
- Provide materials and other resources for teachers serving emergent bilingual newcomer scholars.
- Provide instructional management assistance in content and methodology to teachers of emergent bilingual newcomer scholars.
- Work with ESL teachers to implement the district's secondary emergent bilingual newcomer program.
- Participate in and serve as a resource for curriculum writing and planning and provide demonstration lessons as needed.
- Support teachers and instructional staff develop research-based instructional practices that support the development of children’s language, literacy, background knowledge, and concept development.
- Assist teachers, principals, and other school leaders, the district, and schools in establishing, implementing, and sustaining effective language instruction educational programs designed to assist in teaching immigrant children and emergent bilingual scholars.
- Provide other instructional services designed to assist immigrant children and emergent bilingual scholars to achieve in secondary schools in the United States, such as programs of introduction to the educational system and civics education.
- Collect, research, compile, analyze, verify, summarize, record, and evaluate a variety of data and information related to immigrant students and Emergent Bilingual scholars.
- Coordinate and develop immigrant student welcoming procedures such as interviews, translation, interpretation services, etc.
- Coordinate, develop, and monitor procedures to analyze immigrant student records and transcripts.
- Coordinate, develop, and monitor plans to support immigrant students and emergent bilingual scholars who transition into and out of the newcomer program.
- Manage and collaborate with other coordinators to support the implementation of the district’s Bilingual/ESL program utilizing the coaching model with a focus on emergent bilingual newcomer scholars.
- Coordinate professional learning to support the implementation of differentiated Sheltered Instruction strategies at elementary and secondary campuses.
- Coordinate meetings, information sessions, and special events to promote a welcoming school environment for all emergent bilingual newcomer scholars.
- Assist (after appropriate training) with testing and language assessments under the supervision of a licensed staff member for the purpose of evaluating students’ academic and language abilities.
- Serve as liaison with building and district administrators to determine the special needs of emergent bilingual newcomers and their families.
- Serve as liaison with outside agencies (e.g. refugee centers) to forecast newcomer families and strengthen relationships.
- Coordinate services with district social workers and counselors.
- Assist the Multilingual Education director in assessing the needs of the district's emergent bilingual newcomer programs and work effectively to address those needs.
- Implement systems to support the implementation and fidelity of district emergent bilingual newcomer programs.
- Collaborate with core content coordinators and directors on curriculum, instruction, and assessment including Spanish and English Communication and Community RelationS.
- Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and nation
