**Nature of Work**:
The Electrical Inspector II is responsible for the full performance level inspecting industrial and commercial buildings, apartment houses and individual dwellings. This position ensures compliance with County ordinances and the National Electrical Code governing the installation and operation of electrical systems and equipment. The Inspector uses technical judgement and discretion when completing field inspections, and consult with the Chief, Inspections, Licenses & Permits where unusual circumstance or cases arise. **Examples of Duties**:

- Responds to emergency inspection requests from Emergency Operations Center to make determination on life safety, potential hazards for building/structure occupancy (24 hour emergency duty).
- Performs the functions of the Electrical Inspector III during that individual's absence.
- Prepares reports and maintains inspection records and logs of work performed.
- Conducts inspections of new and existing wiring and electrical installations in residences, businesses, public and other buildings for conformation with safety standards, laws and ordinances.
- Checks plans and workmanship to verify that work complies with ordinances and regulations; recommends methods for improvements.
- Checks existing wiring installations of vacated buildings prior to their reconnection to the main power circuit; approves existing installations or recommends further electrical work prior to reconnections.
- Inspects private generating equipment for safety compliance.
- Determines that trades professionals working throughout the County have required licenses or are supervised by a licensed trades professional.

**Minimum Qualification Requirements**:
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:

- Knowledge of construction methodologies.

Possession of a high school or vocational-technical school, diploma, or a GED certificate **AND** **four (4)** **years as an Electrical Inspector, with at least two (2) years experience with commercial inspections.
**EXPERIENCE**:
Four (4) years of related experience.
**SAFETY**:
Must comply with all Federal (OSHA), and State of Maryland (MOSH), safety regulations and applicable Harford County safety policies, procedures, or manuals as required for this position.
