Open position: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

LOCATION: Chelsea, MA

SALARY RANGE: $60,000/year (Bilingual English/Spanish Required)

La Colaborativa is seeking a dynamic Community Engagement Specialist to lead impactful

projects within our community. Join us in making a positive impact—your dedication can

truly make a difference

RESPONSIBILITIES:
▪ Lead and coordinate voter education, capacity building, community organizing, and

mobilization events at La Colaborativa and allied organizations, including:
▪ Organizing year-round voter registration, training, presentations, and events on issues related to

social justice, voting, and public policy.

▪ Drafting non-partisan voter guides, flyers, and other informational documents related to civic

affairs, democracy and government, and public policy.

▪ Implement leadership development and capacity building programs.

▪ Cultivate strategic partnerships with social justice organizations to amplify community voices

and advocate for policy change.

▪ Engage community members in creating power maps and understanding timelines for

initiatives, fostering inclusive decision-making processes.

▪ Collaborate on community information sessions and workshops on civics, policy change, and

advocacy strategies.

▪ Provide administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of office functions, including

database management and meeting coordination.

TRAINING AND EDUCATION:
▪ Create, coordinate, and implement Right to vote Materials, Logistics, and outreach.

▪ Develop and maintain power mapping tools of legislative allies and opponents.

▪ Recruit, coordinate, and supervise volunteers and interns.

QUALIFICATIONS:
▪ Bachelor’s degree or 1 year of relevant experience is strongly preferred.

▪ Strong writing and communication skills.

▪ Deep commitment to social justice and the mission of La Colaborativa.

▪ Ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.

▪ Cultural competency and ability to navigate diverse populations.

▪ Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and drive projects to completion.

▪ Understanding of the legislative process, politics, and community organizing principles.

▪ Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.

▪ Fluent in English and Spanish (Strongly preferred).

▪ Maintain close communication with the Organizing Director, ensuring alignment and strategic

execution.
