We are seeking an **Employment Specialist** to join our team The **Employment Specialist **will provide all assistance necessary to enable program participants to obtain and retain competitive employment in integrated work settings.
**Location: Nassau & Suffolk County, NY**
**Position**: Full time
**Hours**: Tuesday - Saturday (preferred) 30-hour work week
**Hourly Rate**:$19.00
**Responsibilities**:
- participates in the assessment and development of each program participant’s capabilities, training needs, and interests
- provides initial training and intermittent/ongoing monitoring of participant in learning their job requirements and social skills necessary to maintain employment until the participant can work there independently
- provides route travel training and/or assist in securing alternative means of transportation to and from worksite
- maintains ongoing contact with employer to identify any problems
- maintains necessary contacts with family members, residence managers and service coordinator
**Qualifications**:
- 60 College Credits
- one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- valid New York State Driver’s license
- excellent communication skills
- basic computer proficiency
