Purchases merchandise or commodities for resale by performing the following duties.

Reviews all requisitions. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

Selects and orders merchandise from showings by manufacturing representatives, or other sellers, basing selection on nature of clientele, or demand for specific commodity, merchandise, or other property.

Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.

Transports purchases or contacts Traffic Supervisor to contact carriers to arrange transportation of purchases.

Verifies quantity of stock received from manufacturer.

Contacts vendors regarding errors in partial or duplicate shipments, prices, and substitutions.

Prepares purchase order contracts or bid requests.

Reviews bid proposal and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.

Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Maintains contract databases.

Authorizes payment of invoices or return of merchandise.

Calculates and maintains the Kanban system.

Expedites delivery of goods to users.

Investigates potential suppliers and recommends those most desirable.

Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality assurance personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.

Assists Purchasing Manager on special projects on an "as needed" basis.

Performs all duties in an efficient, accurate, safe and professional manner.

Practice the quality policy and uphold the principles of the Quality Management System.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $59,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
