Northwest Hardwoods is seeking a skilled Procurement Forester/Log Buyer to join our team. As a key member of our procurement staff, you will be responsible for managing and promoting positive supplier and landowner relationships, conducting timber cruising, negotiating contracts, and coordinating timber harvesting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and landowners to ensure a stable and sustainable timber supply.
  • Conduct thorough timber cruising to assess the quality and quantity of timber available for procurement.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best possible prices and terms.
  • Coordinate timber harvesting operations to ensure efficient and safe delivery of timber to our facilities.
  • Purchase logs within strategic guidelines to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Assist in maintaining target inventories and promoting a safe working environment for all employees, suppliers, and contractors.

Requirements:

  • Forestry or Associate Forestry degree with at least 5 years of practical log and timber procurement experience preferred or equivalent employment experience desired.
  • Competent computer skills and ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent analytic and negotiation skills, with a strong commitment to personal, team, and supplier/contractor safety.
  • Ability to develop peer-to-peer relationships and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
