This position is located in the Department of For Hire Vehicles (DFHV), Office of the Chief of Staff. The position serves as the liaison for DFHV and the media. The primary purpose of this position is to develop and execute communication strategies, assemble, and disseminate information to staff and the public on issues and factors directly related to the functions of the agency. The incumbent in this position advises senior management of the developments in public information and community relations that impact the agency.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

The Public Affairs Specialist coordinates the public affairs program for the agency and is responsible for developing the agency communication plan and providing staff with directives involving public information, internal information, and community relations activities. Develops information materials such as news releases, fact sheets, feature stories, and background statements. Plans, directs, and executes campaigns to convey complex information concerning programs, research on program-related areas, responsibilities, and activities.

The incumbent responds to inquiries and provides information upon request to the news media, specialized groups, and the public regarding the organization's programs and performance. Responsible for preparing written testimonies, talking points for the Director, reviews and proof-reads all public information materials, publications, multimedia productions, and activities for the agency to ensure adherence to policies and regulations. Prepares responses to requests for information submitted under the guides of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

**Qualifications and Education**

Individuals must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CS-13 grade level. Specialized experience is work which is directly related to the position which has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Basic graphic design skill is preferred.
