**Essential Duties**
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the university's emergency operations and emergency preparedness, response, recovery, mitigation and continuity protocols and policies consistent with the National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command System (ICS), and Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP).
- Provide support with the planning, development, and coordination of training for the incident management team and other identified key personnel on campus including, but not limited to: ICS and NIMS courses developed to assist all individuals who may have a key role in emergency response.
- Ensure Continuity of Operations Plans (COOPs) are updated, audited and exercised.
- Assist in the completion of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for large-scale events.
- Assist in coordinating hazard vulnerability assessments for all campuses and enterprise assets.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of tabletop, functional, and full-scale exercises.
- Assist in developing EOC processes and position-specific checklists, inventory and maintain EOC equipment.
- Assist in the continued development and promotion of the alert and notification systems.
- Maintain inventory of emergency supplies and equipment and develop processes for replenishing and/or replacing inventory.
- Participate in disaster response and recovery operations and staff the Emergency Operations Center or Incident Command Post as required.
- Assist in the management of campus emergency response teams and develop and implement training in emergency preparedness.
- Provide technical assistance and consultation to the university community on emergency management principles, including preparedness, personal safety, resiliency, continuity of operations, and mitigation strategies.
- Create and provide educational presentations to the university community on emergency preparedness and distribute information regarding emergency preparedness and response procedures.
- Monitor changes in federal, state, and local laws and requirements related to emergency preparedness.
- Assist in recommending policy and program changes to respond to changing requirements.
- Work with the university community and ASU partners to coordinate emergency management efforts and programs.
- Serve as liaison to/between external resources such as Police, Fire, and other governmental agencies to ensure effective coordination.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Identify available training resources, coordinate attendance, and maintain an accurate training database to ensure the university is compliant with current NIMS requirements.
- As the incumbent will support emergency operations, must be available during campus emergencies that may occur after hours.
- Working hours may be performed outside of regular business with some regularity and may require up to 30% travel.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Bachelor's degree in emergency management or a related field highly preferred; or equivalent paid, volunteer or internship experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue growing knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.

Required completion within 6 months of hire; FEMA ICS trainings 100, 200, 700, 800. Completion of FEMA Professional Development Series.

**Desired Qualifications**
- At least two years of professional experience in emergency management or support role, including the development of emergency preparedness strategies, emergency plans, and the implementation of training and preparedness programs.
- Experience in grant writing and administration.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements and guidance that pertain to emergency planning and disaster recovery.
- Working knowledge of the Jeanne Cleary Act and the Higher Education Opportunity Act is a plus.
- Experience working in an Emergency Operations Center.
- Evidence of effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to present to large groups of people.
