**Job Duties**
Controls the flow of appeals through the Office of FLA from the time the appeal is filed until the decision is released to ensure that USDOL and agency case aging time-lapse standards are met.
Coordinates assignment and scheduling of lower authority unemployment insurance (UI) and other appeals for Appeals Examiners.
Ensures the records for final decisions in these cases are accurately prepared for further appeals.
Communicates with internal and external customers with dignity and respect to ensure that agency and division goals are met.
Manages the workflow of the work unit; interprets and applies guidelines; conducts research; maintains confidentiality, and supervises administrative staff, ensuring quality of work, adequate training and performance management, and compliance with program requirements.
**Minimum Qualifications**
Considerable knowledge of legal issues arising under the Virginia Unemployment Compensation Act; the Unemployment Insurance adjudication process, and the docketing and scheduling of hearings.
Strong customer service, analytical, organizational, supervisory and computer (data entry, typing, and working with Microsoft Word, Clear 2 There or comparable software) skills.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing with staff and external parties; adhere to set time constraints and guidelines; and supervise and train staff.
**Additional Considerations**
Experience supervising clerical staff and performing administrative work.
Considerable experience in judicial or quasi-judicial hearing or appeals processing procedures.
Experience supervising staff and managing work unit.
Completion of para-legal or similar program or training.
