Korean Dining Coordinator

**JOB DESCRIPTION **Position Overview: Under direction of the Nutrition Coordinator of St. Barnabas Senior Services. Dining Coordinator assists with supervising Title III C-1 Nutrition Programs for the elderly at a Congregate Meal site in accordance with the regulations of the City of Los Angeles Department of Aging (LADOA) which govern an Older Americans Act Program. Additionally, will perform related job duties and functions as required.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
In support of the program, assists with the following duties and responsibilities:
- Supervises the activities of subordinate Personnel, including volunteers and Title V participants in carrying out the service of meals to members over 60 years of age.
- Is responsible for sanitation compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards.
- Performs weekly tasks such as ordering food supplies from the caterer. Prepares weekly reports, collects participants Client Intake Data and other pertinent record-keeping information, food temperature records and food service cleaning schedules.
- Trains volunteers and/or Title V participants.
- Attends Monthly Nutrition Services meetings conducted by the Nutrition Coordinator/Nutrition Director, participates in any ideas and suggestions to better service for the members.
- Provides back-up to other Dining Coordinators, ensuring proper and timely completion of meal orders, paperwork and required reports.
- Processes daily Nutrition Program income, locking all program income in a secure area (locked cabinet or locked office), providing all program income to Nutrition Coordinator at the end of each week.
- Attends quarterly in-service trainings conducted by Consulting Nutrition Services (CNS).
**Job Qualifications**:
- Some specialized training in the field of aging or significant experience working with senior populations.
- A satisfactory equivalent of education, training and experience, sufficient to qualify for the requirements of the position.
- Ability to interface with elderly persons of varying races, ethnicities, physically and/or medically impaired.
- Basic computer knowledge preferred; knowledge of various devices such as copy machines, scanners, smart phones, etc.
- Ability to speak and write effectively in English.
- Possess motivational skills to encourage members to engage in programs and activities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
**Work Environment**:
This job operates in a professional Senior Center.
**Physical Demands**:
While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, have full range of motion, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing this job the individual performing these responsibilities may need to lift or move items or people weighing over 50 pounds.

**Travel**
Minimum travel is expected for this position, but will drive to other locations when needed.
**Required Education and Experience**:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Food Managers Protection Certificate required within 60 days of hire.
- CPR Certificate
**Language Skills**:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, ability to speak effectively before small groups of clients.
**Mathematical Skills**:
No major mathematical skills needed, basic calculate figures and amounts.
