Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire is a freestanding, 122 bed facility specializing in general adult psych, adolescents, geriatric, and women's services. The hospital is located in southwest Houston serving the Houston and surrounding communities. Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire is conveniently located between the Galleria and Meyer land shopping districts and is only minutes away from the Houston Medical Center, Downtown, and Midtown. Our continuum of care includes inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to stabilize symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other behavioral health disorders.
**Position Summary**:
Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor to oversee the billing, follow-up, and up-front collections of in-house patient accounts.
**Patient Financial Counselor Key Responsibilities include**:
- Verification of eligibility, insurance benefits, background knowledge with insurance plans (ex. Medicaid, Medicare, commercial, and government insurances).
- Knowledge with payer website and policies/procedures, basic Microsoft and Excel experience and ability to key data entry timely and efficiently.
- Contact patients to discuss and collect total amount due to from member, setup payment arrangements, and follow procedures for uninsured patients.
- Able to meet company upfront collection metrics.

**Patient Financial Counselor Position Requirements**:
- **Education**:_High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
- **Experience**:_A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a health care collections or related field, or any combination of education, training, or experience in a health care business office environment.
- **Additional Requirements**_:_ Experience with insurance billing, computer, and business software programs (Excel) preferred.
