**Essential Functions**:

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.
- Responsible for developing, maintaining, and supervising a first-class team of clinical informaticists, educators, and support personnel as required, meeting requirements and responsibilities of managers at Stanford Hospital and Clinics with respect to hiring, retaining, and evaluating employees. Participates in peer review as required. Provides leadership and role modelingin the areas of professionalism, accountability, and communication.
- Ensures that clinical informaticists posses and consistently display excellence in verbal and written communication, capability for complex workflow analysis and redesign, characteristics of leadership, persuasion, and appropriate risk-taking, and efficiency in time management and prioritization of work.
- Coordinates and participates in leading system planning, development, design, analysis, implementation, upgrading, testing, maintenance, and evaluation of clinical information systems. Plans for data collection, cataloguing of gathered information, documentation of processes, and communication with members of IT and clinical services.
- Provides leadership when implementing changes in both automated and manual components of the clinical information systems. Coordinates communication or changes with clinicians and IT management. Anticipates and responds appropriately to requests and concerns from clinical users or others affected by the systems.
- Shares responsibility with IT personnel for maintaining components of the clinical information systems, including revisions, testing system changes, and integration of changes into the clinical environment.
- Manages a team of informatics specialists who anticipate, identify, analyze, prioritize, and facilitate resolution of user needs and issues. Coordinates the development of multi-disciplinary user input processes regarding clinical systems and associated workflows.
- Evaluates, implements, and optimizes methods of user input and communication between and among clinical users, operational and clinical leadership, and IT personnel. Coordinates and evaluates proactive user support in all areas for clinical information system users. Coordinates and participates in systems analysis and research related to clinical information systems. Works with members of user groups to determine selection criteria. Evaluates selection processes and suggests improvements to those processes.
- Ensures that the impact, especially unintended consequences, of new information technology systems or changes to existing systems are understood, accepted, and accounted for in decisionmaking process. Ensures that such decisions lead to most desired outcomes.
- Collaborates with outside consultants, vendors, and company representatives in the planning, development, testing, revision, and maintenance of clinical information systems.
- Collaborates with and supports the Informatics Director of Accreditation and Regulatory Affairs to ensure accreditation, regulatory compliance, licensure, safety, and research needs are appropriately met with clinical systems configuration and training.
- Collaborates with and supports the Director of Transformation to ensure that clinical and business processes are optimized for value, safety, efficiency, employee satisfaction, patient satisfaction, and overall performance excellence.
