**SUMMARY**

The Director of Operations serves as the fulcrum for all the School’s activities. In consultation with the Dean, the Director has the primary responsibility of ensuring the smooth functioning of all aspects of the school, from curricular management to budget, to facilities, to relations with and between faculty and students. The Director serves as a full member of the School’s Executive Committee and Operations Committee, along with the Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, and the Directors of the four Programs, and as such participates in all discussions of operations, planning, development of policies, implementation of procedures, and problem solving.

**Requirements**:
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (including but not limited to)**
- Responsible for the daily operations of the School of Art
- Act as liaison between the Dean, students, faculty, staff, and other Institute offices
- Work with the Dean to plan future development of the School to support different program needs
- Manage faculty contract renewals as directed by the Provost Office; from faculty notification letters, collection of support materials to scheduling of contract renewal meetings with Dean
- Work with the Dean on faculty contract management
- Work with the Dean and the Assistant Dean of Technology on oversight of the School budget, purchasing, policy, and communication. Strategizing best practices for the School of Art’s operations.
- Work with the Dean and Program Directors in all aspects of faculty hiring and retention, including preparing faculty contracts and documentation in consultation with the Dean and the Director of Faculty Contracts.
- Provide direct administrative support to the Dean to include, management of the Dean’s calendar, prioritizing the demands of administration, teaching, and other responsibilities to minimize conflicts and maximize time responding to demands, communications, and record keeping, and triaging between different kinds of need and grievance.
- Support the Dean in budget planning and resource management resources
- Work with the various Institute Administrative offices to ensure that accurate information about the School, including course descriptions and syllabi, student records and various files, is created and maintained in accessible formats.
- Responsible for hiring and training of the operations staff and their performance management.
- Supervision of the School’s operations team on a daily basis, overseeing workflow and maintaining a good work environment
- Act as administrative liaison to REEF site staff and East of Borneo staff.
- Work with Program Directors on all aspects of curricular management - from academic requirements, curricular requirement changes to course descriptions and scheduling, including record keeping, collecting syllabi, new course proposals and course modifications, the review process and overseeing grading.
- Provide support to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs with curriculum projects and accreditation.
- Coordinate with the Program Directors and the Assistant Dean of Technology, the supervision of Winter Session, from the development of course descriptions to registration, sign-up, workshop budgets, contracts and final grades.
- Coordinate with the Budget Analyst on the Art School Grad Assistance budget.
- Stay abreast of new curricula trends and management training in support of the School of Art and its programs, including but not limited to: attending webinars, workshops, and conferences to maintain current knowledge in the field of arts education, student success, and office management.
