As part of the TST Treatment Team, the Parent Partner assists families to achieve goals based on identified needs, strengths, and challenges. They employ skills and strategies to empower and support other families and foster effective parent-professional partnership and promote the practice of family-driven and youth-guided approaches. They provide parents/caregivers with a range of formal and informal family support services based on family’s goals and children’s treatment needs. The Parent Partner provides needed support, advocacy, information and referral to parents of children with a history of trauma and traumatic stress.

**Tasks**
- Participate in TST assessment and treatment planning.
- Provide information to families about mental health and referrals to community agencies.
- Provide assistance and support to parents in accessing services (schools, hospitals, child welfare, mental health agencies, entitlements, etc.).
- Ensure that parents receive accompaniment and support in meetings with the NYC Board of Education and other child-serving agencies.
- Facilitate advocacy training for parents to help them assist their children.
- Collaborate with TST Therapists in providing trauma treatment.
- Maintain documentation that is in compliance with all governmental and agency standards and procedures.
- Other job-related duties that may be assigned.

**Qualifications**
- A parent or primary caregiver who has ‘lived experience’ navigating multiple child serving systems on behalf of their child(ren) with social, emotional, developmental, health and/or behavioral healthcare needs.
- Three years minimum experience as a primary caretaker of a SED child, obtaining mental health, educational and related services or entitlements for an SEC child preferred.
- Parent Partners will be supported to work toward the Family Peer Advocate Professional Credential, i.e., they will complete the relevant training and earn the Family Peer Advocate Credential (FPA) within a year of being hired.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills preferred.
- Knowledge of a second language preferred.
- Knowledge of a range of local resources, procedures and tactics required to meet the needs of children is strongly preferred.

**Hours**

The TST Program operates from 10AM - 6:30PM Monday - Friday, and from 8AM - 4PM on Saturdays. This position has a 20-hour work week, which includes Saturdays. The program is closed on Sundays, and this position is off Sunday + a weekday of choice.

**Job Type**

Part Time 20 hours/week
