The Assistant Director for Administration for the Academic Advancement Program (AAP) functions independently to support the teaching and program mission of the units under the Associate Vice Provost for Student Diversity (AVP)/Director of AAP. The Academic Advancement Program provides innovative programs and services to more than 6,000 UCLA undergraduates from diverse populations who have been historically underserved by higher education. AAP programs and services include tutoring, counseling, mentoring, scholarships and research opportunities to support the academic success, retention and graduation of the program's students, to increase the number of these students entering graduate and professional schools and to develop the academic, political, scientific, economic and community leadership necessary to transform our society. The Assistant Director for Administration provides managerial leadership for the administrative and personnel support for all programs and activities within the various AAP units. In addition, provides leadership, supervision and direction for AAP's student recruitment and retention activities and the Freshman and Transfer Summer Program (F/TSP). The Assistant Director for Administration directly supervises the AAP New Student Program's administrative assistant, AVP's administrative specialist and student staff, as well as provide guidance and policy support to other program administrative assistants.
