**SUPERVISING CHILD SUPPORT OFFICER**

The Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is looking for team players that have a proven track record of being hungry to learn, accepting of changes and new ideas, results driven, enthusiastic collaborators, and positive leaders. - The **Mission** of our department is to enhance the lives and well-being of children and promote family self-sufficiency by establishing and enforcing support orders. DCSS serves approximately 57,329 families and promotes family self-sufficiency by partnering with local community centers to ensure supportive services are available to families. DCSS also partners with County agencies and community organizations in efforts to address intergenerational poverty among child support customers. This department has been recognized for embracing innovation, technological advances, and business process streamlining with numerous awards.
- **Supervising Child Support Officers** are at the forefront of new leadership concepts, work with diverse teams and the have the ability to make changes to processes that ultimately help bring funds to the children of the County of San Diego. Mentoring and coaching subordinate team members so that they can rise is an expectation of all of our leaders. Continuous improvement to processes and self is the daily task. Collaboration is the cornerstone of accomplishing the work. Supervising a team of Child Support Officers and Assistant Child Support Officers by training and directing the activities associated with conducting in-office interviews and investigations of complex custodial and non-custodial parent cases, establishing paternity, and initiating actions to establish and enforce orders for support occurs every day.

The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.
- Job Offer and Background Process begins: Week of August 5, 2024
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date

MIMINUM QUALIFICATIONS_**
1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in business administration, financial management, public administration, criminal justice, behavioral science, or a closely related field; **AND**, two (2) years of experience as a Child Support Officer in the County of San Diego; **_OR_**,
2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited U. S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in business administration, financial management, public administration, criminal justice, behavioral science, or a closely related field; **AND**, two (2) years of experience as a Child Support Officer or a closely related class title from one of the following kinds of public or private agencies or organizations: child support services, criminal justice (such as law enforcement, legal office, or court of law), health and human services, collections, billing, or other closely related agency or organization.
** Note**:Experience as described above may substitute for the education requirement on a year for year basis.
