The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the care and processing of instruments and equipment at Premier Outpatient Surgery Center.

1. Maintains a clean and orderly central processing area (e.g., shelves, counters, equipment)

2. Adheres to sterilization process policies and procedures

3. Reprocesses each item according to industry standards and manufacturer’s instructions for use, including but not limited to decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization

4. Inspects instruments under magnification for damage and defects; lubricates items (as required)

5. Determines whether each item is in good working condition

6. Sorts and arranges items into proper trays according to established policy/procedure

7. Wraps trays and individual items according to manufacturer’s instructions for use

8. Properly uses cleaning solutions per manufacturer’s instructions for use

9. Accurately labels each item with name and sterilization date

10. Correctly operates sterilizer and other processing equipment (i.e., positions items correctly in sterilizer, selects proper cycle, seeks assistance when needed)

11. Checks equipment indicators for proper functioning

12. Performs required biological/chemical monitoring tests on all sterilizers and maintains logs according to established policy/procedure

13. Understands the appropriate response required for a failed Bowie Dick, Sterilization cycle and/or Biological, or Chemical indicator

14. Ensures instruments are transported to processing room in closed containers marked as biohazardous

15. Maintains inventory levels and accurate records

16. Checks for outdated items and package integrity of wrapped sterilized items; replaces items as necessary

17. Maintains/updates the instrument tray inventory list

18. Accurately documents count of instruments loaned/returned to outside sources

19. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Sterile processing experience (min. 2 years)
- Strong knowledge with instruments
- Proficiency in aseptic technique

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
