The Central Family Life Center, Inc. (CFLC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to improve the lives and environment of Staten Island residents. The mission of The Central Family Life Center is to provide Staten Island individuals, including children, seniors, at-risk youth, and families of varying backgrounds, with the needed services, programs, and opportunities to improve their overall well-being. CFLC is committed to reducing health disparities for New Yorkers using an innovative approach to foundational policy, communications, equity, diversity & inclusion, and partnership work. CFLC has maintained an active role in the Staten Island community for 30 years. CFLC serves the community through educational programming, workshops, and direct services designed to empower and improve the lives of the Staten Island Borough's most vulnerable population.

**Job Summary**

Cure Violence initiative works with 16 - 24-year-old at risk youths who are or may have been involved in street violence, community residents, businesses and community-based organizations to implement Cure Violence. Cure Violence is a public health strategy to reduce and prevent shootings and killings. This program will focus on a defined area identified as a “hot spot” in Stapleton, Staten Island. The program works to prevent gun violence by:
1) mediating conflicts that may end in gun violence

2) changing the thinking of individuals who are most at risk of being victims or perpetrators of violence

3) working closely with a broad coalition of local partners to promote a visible community-wide message that shooting is unacceptable behavior.

Educational & Employment Specialist is key in helping program participants connect with jo, job readiness training and continuing education through developing contacts and network in the public and private sector. The educational specialist will help to provide economic support and employment related services to people in need for the purposes of promoting individual and family self-sufficiency.

Educational & Employment Specialist responsibilities include and are not limited to, preparing reports and maintaining appropriate filing systems. The administrative assistant should have good oral and written communication skills and be able to organize their work using tools, such as MS Office, Publisher or Canvas and office equipment. Be organized and be able to work as a team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assisting participants in obtaining and maintaining employment that is consistent with their individual vocational goal.
- Assessing participants’ vocational functioning on an ongoing basis utilizing background information and work experiences.
- Conducting job development and job search activities directed towards positions that are individualized to the interest and uniqueness of the population served.
- Providing outreach to employer contacts and serving as an advocates for participants and staff.
- Providing necessary engagement with participants and staff to connect them to opportunities both with CMS and outside CMS.
- Assisting participants and community partners with Anti-Gun Violence Employment program paperwork and documentation requirement.
- Assisting participant and staff with concerns including housing, health care, social services and educational issues.
- Delivering organizational development and data management skills.
- Excellent communication, planning, organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
- Provide administrative support to Assistant Director of Operations, Program Manager, and staff to ensure that all clerical and operational program functions are handled daily
- Ability to supports the team in working with community residents, businesses and community-based organizations of all types to assist in implementing strategies to reduce and prevent shootings and killings in selected "catchment area".
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and respect to all staff and participants.
- Maintain all social media accounts to deliver the "No Guns, No Shootings" message, activities that are planned, followed and collaborated with relevant organizations connected to our mission.
- Assist the Program Manager in the development and distribution of public education materials, including flyers, posters, stickers and social media postings to promulgate a "no guns, no shootings.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor Degree
- Knowledgeable of Publisher, Canvas or other programs oriented to the creation of flyers
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude with the staff, participants, and vendors
- Proficient in Micro Soft Office, Excel, Google Suite, Social Media, databases and hand-held devices
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate clearly, effectively and collaboratively with all levels of staff, program participants and community members
