- The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and storm water, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
- The Bureau of Engineering Design & Construction (BEDC) currently has a portfolio of capital projects valued at $23.8B, and another $10.5B projected over the next 10-year commitment plan. The projects BEDC implements allows DEP as a whole to continue to operate and maintain an exemplary water supply system.
- The Program Management Office (PMO) within BEDC provides technical support to the project delivery teams. This includes the following sections and groups: Project Controls, Schedule Controls, Permitting Support, Cost Estimating, Business Solutions, Data Analytics, and management of the Enterprise Program Management Information System (ePMIS). The PMO uses people, processes, and tools to mitigate issues that may impact a project.- Typical tasks will include:
- Address system users support requests
- Interface with technology providers personnel to address problems
- Support ongoing maintenance of reporting and data solutions
- Analyze business requirements into technical requirements for reporting/visualizations, data models, and databases.
- Review technical specifications derived from technical requirements
- Participate in the design, performance, and code review process
- Oversee development and maintenance of the department's data repository and ensure successful data gathering and validating the accuracy of the data prior to publication of reports
- Develop IT-based solutions consisting of contextual, conceptual, and logical architectures using standards-based, rigorous methodologies and best practices.
- PREFERRED SKILLS- 1 - 5 years of experience in Business Analytics
- Strong organization, writing, communication skills, with a strong vision of the goals
- Experience gathering requirement from project teams and management for their needs
- Experience in build Dashboards and reports using SSRS and Power BI.
- Strong SQL skills with experience working with large datasets to generate reports and dashboards
- Experience with broad technology delivery, including custom development using various development languages such as C#, Java
