Levitated uses a proven density flotation technology to separate aluminum from other metals produced by the scrap metal industry. Its fast-paced, entrepreneurial culture focuses on safety, product quality and environmental responsibility.

Our place in the supply chain is between large scrap metal shredding operations and the global aluminum smelting and castings business. We take a non-ferrous byproduct of steel shredding (Zorba) and use heavy media flotation to create a high-purity aluminum feedstock (Twitch) for the castings industry. Levitated is successful, profitable and at the forefront of R&D to support the aluminum needs of our economy’s future.

Levitated Metals is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mervis Industries, a family-owned and managed metal recycling company with 90 years of history serving the needs of its industrial customers and suppliers.

The Lift Operator position reports to the Operations Supervisor. Primary functions are to safely move, weigh and empty boxes of different commodities, maintain stockpile areas and to maintain the cleanliness and efficiency of the plant. The Lift Operator is responsible for daily inspections of the machine and is expected to work with outside equipment service suppliers to keep the equipment in good working order.

**Requirements**:

- Demonstrates a good working knowledge of safety rules and best practices, and assures facility compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies. Required to follow all safety policies and procedures, wear PPE, and promote a 24/7 Safe Culture
- Operates lift to transfer material from catch bins to scale for weighing, from the scale to the finished goods bunkers while recording accurate weights of each bin
- Will have to occasionally load and unload containers or van trailers by using a portable loading dock to access the trailer or container.
- Performs daily preventative maintenance and pre/post trip inspections - oil, grease, diesel fuel, hoses for leaks and all moving parts for proper function. Grease the lift daily
- Records daily maintenance activities
- Help maintain all of plant yard area for cleanliness and environmental compliance. Maintain the area around storage bins and exterior of plant.
- Assist in the inventory process and be able to keep a complex set of products and materials organized in the plant.
- Report any problems to Operations Supervisor
- Flexible attitude engaged in team goals
- Position will also serve as the backup wheel loader operator
- In addition, responsibilities will include other areas of the facility, for example:

- Must be willing to cross train throughout plant operations. Assist with training of co-workers.
- Demonstrates good knowledge of lockout/tagout procedure required during certain procedures
- Perform other duties as required by ops. supervisor
- Must be physically capable to climb on and under conveyor belts and work in high places. Will be required to stoop, bend, and lift heavy objects such as shovels full of concrete materials etc. on a respective basis
- Performs preventative maintenance on conveyor belts, which charge plants, and helps maintain other plant equipment

**Minimum Education & Experience**:

- High School Diploma or GED
- Three years of experience in operation and maintenance of a fork lift.
- Heavy equipment operation a plus (wheel loader, skid steer, etc)

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged sitting/standing, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, push and pull objects
- Lift objects of various dimension and weights
- Ability to operate hand controls with both hands
- Ability to operate foot controls with both feet
- Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather
- Ability to work in cramped quarters
- Ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels
- Climb in and out of lift a minimum 30 times per day, climb to 10 feet to clean loader, walk on uneven ground
- Climb conveyor system 10 times per day, to clean and maintain
- Use needed solvents to scrub and wash loader daily, climb over and under loader to visually inspect same
- Ability to climb in and out of forklift and other equipment multiple times an hour to accomplish necessary tasks.
- Work in confined spaces under hood, and in framework to clean lift as needed
- Use hand tools (wrenches, drill, etc.) to make minor repairs
- Hear and see problem indicators that warrant attention/repairs
- Shoveling, sweeping, picking up trash, painting and general cleanup of plant areas

**Working Conditions**:
All time is spent in an outside setting that may require various periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry. May have exposure to dust and/or diesel exhaust, etc.
