**Position Description**:
**About Harris County Housing & Community Development**:

- Harris County Housing & Community Development provides life-enhancing projects and programs to residents of Harris County.

Our services include spurring community investment through the provision of homebuying programs, partnering with community members and housing developers to build diverse housing options that uplift communities and offer other assistance that support community building.

**Case Manager Overview**:

- The primary purpose of this position is to determine a referred decedent's eligibility for assistance through the Harris County Bereavement Program. In addition, the program is to ensure abandoned decedents or those with no financial means are provided a dignified funeral service through burial or cremation.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Case Management to provide Burial or Cremation services for the indigent who pass away in Harris County.-
- Interviews family or next of kin to determine eligibility, data entry into program software, calls, ongoing case management to address inquiries.-
- Schedules and attends funeral services to include confirming identification, verification of decedents preparation before service.-
- Closes cases to include finalizing paperwork for disposition, correspondence with vendor and other agencies.-
- Addresses inquiries and/or disputes from family members or next of kin.-
- Exiting/closing case files in program software to include uploading files and scanning documents.-
- Performs other duties as assigned.-

**Requirements**:
**Education**:
- High school diploma**Experience**:
- A minimum of three (3) years' experience in case management or client intake.**Licensure**:
- Valid Driver's License (Texas upon hire)**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:
- Good written and verbal communication skills.-
- Proficient computer skills with emphasis on data accuracy.-
- Organizational skills.-
- Empathy: The ability to keep calm under pressure, attention to detail, Time Management with emphasis on prioritizing tasks and the ability to multi-task.**Preferences**:
**Education**:
- Bachelor's Degree or certification gained through a college/university or mortuary school in Funeral Service, Sociology, Psychology or a related field.**Language**:
- Bilingual in Spanish**General Information**:
**Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work**:
- Full-Time | Regular-
- Monday - Friday | 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.-
- Hybrid schedule to include three (3) days in office and two (2) days remote.**Work Environment**:
- Mostly sedentary with occasional required travel to Funeral Home, Houston National Cemetery or other county facilities.**Physical Demands**:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.**Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.**
