**REPORTS TO**:Executive Director of Alumni Relations, UVM Foundation

**EXPECTED SALARY: $**60-70K; plus, the UVM Foundation’s progressive benefits package, which includes: a comprehensive health plan; dental, vision, and life insurance; a robust paid time off package; a 403(b) plan with immediate vesting and contributions; and tuition remission.

**LOCATION**:Burlington, Vermont

**JOB-TYPE/HOURS**:On-site. A limited hybrid arrangement may be possible, but frequent in-person presence will be required. This position will require occasional work outside of standard business days and hours.

**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Associate Director for Alumni Relations is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining the long-term involvement of University alumni, students, and donors in the life of the university. Volunteer engagement is a significant component of this staff member’s portfolio, with particular emphasis on new alumni as well as those who are experiencing milestone moments (25th and 50th reunion, for example) or engaged with affinity-based programs. By engaging alumni regularly, and in leadership roles, this staff member contributes to the Foundation’s overarching goal of saving and changing lives through philanthropic involvement. The Associate Director plays a leadership role within the Alumni Relations team, partnering closely with the Assistant Vice President to ensure engagement strategies are well-executed and effectively contribute to the current and future donor pipeline.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

35% NextGen Council: Maintain and lead a NextGen (graduates of the last decade) Council that fosters and strengthens ties between alumni and the University by developing, organizing, managing, and directing activity in core geographic regions.

Support engagement and planning for this volunteer committee, including:

- Initiating and maintaining regular contact with young alumni leaders throughout the country through a variety of communication interfaces;
- Developing NextGen affinity engagement strategies to increase young alumni participation and philanthropy, alumni donor participation, volunteer satisfaction, and measured engagement with UVM.

35% Career-Related Engagement: Collaborate with campus partners to develop opportunities to connect alumni with current and future students through career programs that advance strategic priorities of the University.
- Plan and execute programs and services to increase alumni engagement.
- Collaborate with development colleagues to advance philanthropy related to career development and internships.

20% Milestone Moments: Maintain and lead a portfolio of milestone and affinity-based programs, events, and relationships. Areas of focus will be informed by the strategic plan of the UVM Foundation and UVM Alumni Association Board of Directors and currently include class and non-class year program reunions, including the 25th and 50th Reunions, as well as other affinity-based gatherings such as those for identity centers, academic departments, and more.

Support engagement and planning for volunteer committees, including:

- Overseeing and managing all details related to these programs, including, but not limited to: purpose, audience, program content, budget, payments, and logistics;
- Managing event planning process with UVM Foundation Events team;
- Collaborating with the AVP of Alumni Relations on the management of Affinity volunteers of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

10% Other duties as assigned
- Specific standards of performance will be captured as metrics in an annual business plan._

**PREFFERED SKILLS & ABILITIES**
- An understanding of the dynamics of higher education and higher education institutions.
- Understanding of, and ability to effectively use, multiple communications mediums; ability to present oneself professionally both in person and in writing.
- Knowledge of event management best practices, including a strong understanding of what makes events engaging and effective for participants and the host organization.
- Self-starter with the ability and desire to achieve a high level of productivity and success and to consistently seek new opportunities to learn and grow.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and the ability to connect with diverse groups of alumni.
