**Job Summary**:
The Government Relations Program Coordinator at GMF will assist the Senior Manager of Government Relations with building and maintaining GMF's presence on Capitol Hill by providing administrative and logístical support for Hill and US-based briefings or events, study tours, parliamentary exchanges, and any other travel organized by GMF, including managing relationships with Senate and House Ethics where needed and schedulers of Senators and Representatives who engage with GMF. The Program Coordinator will also cultivate relationships with foreign policy staff off GMF’s key committees of jurisdiction and with staff on House Oversight and Senate Rules. Additionally, the Program Coordinator is responsible for tracking legislation relevant to GMF’s programs and core issues and providing timely and succinct updates to key GMF stakeholders. The Program Coordinator will also collaborate with the Senior Manager of Government Relations to develop and execute a strategy to develop and track relationships with U.S. based policymakers outside of Washington, DC. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Government Relations and provides administrative support to the Senior Manager and Department as needed.

**Essential Duties/Responsibilities**:

- Track legislation relevant to GMF’s core issues and programs and provide weekly updates during sessions weeks to relevant GMF staff by writing This Week in Congress weekly digest;
- Build and maintain relationships with Senate and House schedulers for Members of Congress targeted for GMF engagement;
- Build and maintain relationships with Senate and House foreign policy staff outside of GMF’s key committees of jurisdiction;
- Lead the organization and execution of all GMF events designed to engage policymakers including but not limited to: Hill briefings, salon lunches or dinners, Hill receptions, study tours, parliamentary exchanges, GR participation in Brussels Forum and other headline events for GMF;
- Design and develop any written materials needed for Hill engagement;
- Build and maintain relationships with Senate and House Ethics offices and ensure GMF compliance for all Hill-related travel;
- Create regular reports highlighting the work of the Government Relations team including, but not limited to: This Week in Congress, board reports, monthly reports, briefing reports for senior leadership, and any other reports on metrics;
- Assist Government Relations Senior Manager with developing and executing an outreach strategy for GMF among state and local policymakers outside of Washington, DC;
- Build and maintain GMF’s relationships with national organizations that focus on state-level policymakers like the National Governor’s Association, National Conference of State Legislators, U.S. Conference of Mayors, National Association of Counties, etc. and facilitate opportunities to share GMF’s expertise with these audiences;
- Serve as the primary liaison for joint inter-program events;
- Maintain GR’s leg tracking software, maintain database and integration with Dynamics where needed, as well as to pull analytics and reports;
- Oversee Intern recruitment and supervision, when applicable;
- Complete other duties as assigned.

**Knowledge and Skills Needed**:
1-3 years of experience as a Congressional or state legislative staffer, program or staff assistant with similar responsibilities preferred but not required;
- Excellent computer skills and demonstrated proficiency with the MS Office suite and database management;
- Initiative and the ability to prioritize;
- Highly organized with superb attention to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, including tact, flexibility, adaptiveness and discretion;
- Self-starter and results-oriented individual who can multi-task and handle heavy workloads, often with tight deadlines, in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment;
- Ability to represent the German Marshall Fund to external constituencies, including Members of Congress, state and local lawmakers, and organizational partners;
- Ability to plan and organize events and briefings;
- Excellent writing and communication skills; and
- Strong interest in U.S.European issues is an asset.

**Education**:

**Salary**:$47,564 - $60,000
