**Introduction**:
The Division of Unemployment Insurance is currently seeking a Claims Service Supervisor to manage customer service staff in the Benefit Operations Bureau.

This recruitment may be used to fill future similar permanent, project, and/or LTE vacancies.

**Position Summary**:
The Claims Service Supervisor evaluates and monitors staff in the processing of unemployment insurance (UI) claims. This position trains staff, determines needs, assists Help Center Manager in hiring of new staff, and coordinates workflow among subordinate staff. It assures adherence to the Affirmative Action plan and monitors reports to ensure maximum productivity levels are maintained. This position applies internal work rules and recommend disciplinary action as needed. It provides assistance to the public and staff, and supervises, reviews, and assists staff members.

**Salary Information**:
Starting salary is between $58,240 and $63,648 per year depending on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits. Use this Total Rewards Calculator to see an estimate of the total value of our competitive benefits package

A 12-month probationary period will be required. The classification title for these positions is Unemployment Benefit Supervisor (schedule 81, range 04). These positions are not represented in a collective bargaining unit.

Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting pay may vary for current state employees.

**Job Details**:
We consider all qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state, and local law. Finalists for this position may be required to allow DWD to conduct a background check or other checks to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. For positions with access to sensitive federal tax information, FBI fingerprinting may also be required.

DWD does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. This is not a contract position. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

You will **need to have** training and/or experience in:

- Leading a team or group (assigning tasks, monitoring work, enforcing timelines, providing timely feedback on performance, etc.)
- Implementing/ adapting to change
- Establishing and maintaining work relationships

It would be **nice to have** experience in any of the following:

- Working in a highly regulated industry or government program, **especially Unemployment Insurance** (other examples include healthcare, accounting, finance, insurance, etc.)
- Working in a call center
- Working as a front-line supervisor (hiring, setting expectations, performance improvement, employee coaching, performance reviews, etc.)
- Conflict resolution (mediation, advocacy, difficult conversations, etc.)
