Technical Programme Manager for Electrical Engineering
IonQ is building quantum computers that change which problems the world can solve. Our Control Electronics team creates every custom electronic device inside an IonQ system, taking the hardware, gateware, firmware and test behind the precision control boards around the ion trap from development through to production. As Technical Programme Manager for Electrical Engineering, you will drive the team's workstreams, working directly with the programme lead TPM in our Programme Management Office. You will sit at the centre of a cross-functional group of engineers and physicists, turning complex technical work into clear plans, measurable milestones and predictable delivery for our quantum computing roadmap. This is a hands-on role that takes real weight off our design engineers, so they can stay focused on design and the bench. You will create and run the operating rhythm that keeps teams aligned and leaders informed: building development plans and an integrated schedule, tracking dependencies and surfacing risk early. You do not need to be the designer, but you need to be technical enough not to be fooled. When an estimate looks too long or a fix is always two days away, you will know which questions to ask, bring in the right architect or physicist, and turn the answer into a realistic plan with the right number of steps. Much of the help the team needs sits between functions. You will be the link between design engineering, procurement, materials management, supply chain, NPI and production, organising orders, parts and boards so that engineers handle the technical questions and the logistics are handled for them. When a component has a long lead time, you will understand its key characteristics well enough to help find an alternative. You will also keep embedded software, systems architecture and physics requirements in step with the electronics plan, represent the team's progress in programme meetings so that leads do not have to attend every one, and travel up to 20% of the time to partner sites as needed. The total compensation package includes base salary, bonus, equity, and a range of benefits available on our career site. If this role has a commission structure, the compensation range below just reflects the base compensation range. Wage Transparency:$152,000 —$228,000 USD Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. Our benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, matching 401(k), unlimited PTO and paid holidays, parental/adoption leave, legal insurance, and a home technology stipend. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided when a candidate receives an offer of employment. At IonQ, we believe in fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all while striving to identify and eliminate barriers. We empower employees to thrive by fostering a culture of autonomy, productivity, and respect. We are dedicated to creating an environment where individuals can feel welcomed, respected, supported, and valued. We are committed to equity and justice. We welcome different voices and viewpoints and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, ancestry, physical and/or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, transgender status, age, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, or any other basis protected by law. We are proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
