Staff Accountant

Houston, TX | 100% On-Site | $70,000-$90,000

LHH is partnering with a growing Houston organization seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This newly created position is driven by company growth and offers hands-on exposure to general ledger accounting, reconciliations, expense reporting, and upcoming software implementations.

The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, experience working within a robust ERP environment, and proven job stability and tenure throughout their career. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a long-term home with a collaborative and established accounting team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general ledger and balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Complete bank reconciliations and research discrepancies

  • Investigate unusual activity and variances within financial accounts

  • Assist with month-end accounting activities

  • Process and review employee expense reports

  • Work within the company's ERP and accounting systems

  • Assist with accounting activities involving inventory, purchase orders, jobs, and service-related transactions as needed

  • Support the accounting department during audits, month-end deadlines, and other high-volume periods

  • Participate in upcoming software and ERP implementation projects

  • Collaborate across the accounting team and take on additional responsibilities based on departmental needs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • Prior professional accounting experience with strong general ledger fundamentals

  • Hands-on experience with GL, balance sheet, and bank reconciliations

  • Experience working within a full-scale ERP system, such as Microsoft Dynamics GP/Great Plains, Oracle, SAP, or a comparable platform

  • Expense reporting experience; Concur or Navan experience is a plus

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Inventory, purchase order, or job costing experience is a plus

  • Proven job tenure and career stability required

  • Strong research and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies

  • Confident communicator who works well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Position Details

  • Salary: $70,000-$90,000, depending on experience

  • Location: Houston, TX

  • Schedule: 100% on-site

  • Direct Hire
