North Bergen, New Jersey, United States Datadog Full time

We are seeking an experienced design leader to oversee Datadog's Product Design organization. In this role you will lead a team of over 30 designers across North America and Europe, support a platform of 4+ products and manage both the health of the organization and the quality of design execution across the product suite. You'll do this by building strong relationships with our cross-functional leaders and customers, and by overseeing design review processes and outcomes. You'll report to the VP of Product Design and represent the Product Design organization in business processes like OKRs, talent review, compensation review and headcount planning.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You'll Do: Set the bar for design quality across your products. You'll oversee design review processes, provide your own thoughtful feedback and become the organization's backstop for design quality. You'll also work with Engineering and Product leadership to prioritize design work and design-led initiatives.
Lead an organization of over 30 designers across North America and Europe (nearly all in NYC, a few in Paris and remote), and grow the organization to the business' needs and priorities. The organization includes:
Infrastructure monitoring: tools to monitor hosts, containers, networks.
Log management: A suite of products for managing logs.
Data observability: a new suite of products for data teams to understand data health.
LLM Observability: performance and health of large language models.
Manage the organization's processes, tools, and relationships with other departments—evolving each as needed.
Report to the VP of Product Design, and represent the Product Design organization in business processes like OKRs, talent review, compensation review and headcount planning.
Who You Are: Experience : You have a minimum of 15 years experience in digital product design, preferably in enterprise software and/or technical tools, with at least 8 years of experience leading organizations.
Product strategy : You have demonstrated experience developing and implementing UX strategy at scale, coordinating work and outcomes across teams to deliver major UX initiatives.
Quality focus : You have a demonstrated record of going deep to understand your organization's design challenges and opportunities. No issue is too small, and you get into the details to offer feedback to ensure that design quality remains high everywhere.
Technical breadth and depth : We are developing products at the forefront of data visualization, data science and artificial intelligence, each with unique design needs, and our customer base has grown to include a diverse set of users and teams. You should have experience with the technical breadth and depth of a mature and diverse product portfolio.
Balance innovation and platform success : We are constantly investing in new products while supporting our mature, expanding platform. You should be comfortable staffing new initiatives as well as maintaining product excellence and innovation at scale.
Collaboration : Our culture emphasizes dogfooding of our products by internal teams, and close connection with customers via our Design Partnership program. You should demonstrate close connections with both customers and internal peers to build great products.
Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you're passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
Benefits and Growth: New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP).
Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing.
Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking.
An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups).
Access to Inclusion Talks, our internal panel discussions.
Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+.
Competitive global benefits.
Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.
Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Datadog offers a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
