Administration/Literacy Consultant Date Posted: 10/6/2025 Location: ESC of the Western Reserve District: ESC of the Western Reserve A District Literacy Program Coach leads the design, coordination, alignment, and evaluation of literacy initiatives within a K-12 or learner setting. This includes, training faculty and staff, supporting equitable access, and aligning curriculum with evidence-based literacy practices. This position will be responsible for managing CLSD awards, reporting, and maintaining compliance. This role works closely with finance, programs, grant consultant, and district leadership, serving as the primary liaison. The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) seeks to install high-qualified literacy coaches to support implementation of Ohio's Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement in identified schools across the state. The Department of Education's agency goals and objectives aim to increase student achievement through improved language and literacy outcomes for students. Coaches will implement Ohio's Literacy Coaching Model by providing both systems and instructional coaching to support the implementation of a multi-tiered system of support for literacy. Coaches shall have training in the science of reading and evidence-based strategies for effective literacy instruction and intervention and shall implement Ohio's Coaching Model, as described in Ohio's Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Volunteer & Staff Management: Recruiting, training, and overseeing the work of literacy tutors, instructors, and volunteers. Establishing and maintaining relationships with community organizations, parents, schools, libraries, and other partners to promote and expand literacy services. Grant Management & Compliance: Tracking grant progress, ensuring adherence to grant requirements and guidelines throughout the grant lifecycle, and submitting required reports and documentation with support from grant consultants. Ensuring that all RIMPS and third grade reading guarantee laws for the district are in compliance. Support literacy coaches and principals with implementing the literacy plan. Data collection and Analysis: Collecting and analyzing data on student performance and program effectiveness. Using data to inform program improvements and instructional decisions. Tracking program outcomes and reporting on progress. Professional Development: Schedule PD training sessions with PD providers to ensure alignment with program needs. Grades 6-8 Literacy Coach Responsibilities: Model evidence-backed reading and writing instruction in classrooms; co-plan and co-teach Observe Tier 1 instruction and provide non-evaluative "next-step" feedback tailored to teacher needs Facilitate grade-level PLCs/study groups on literacy research and student data analysis Guide teachers in administering, interpreting, and leveraging assessment data including screener and progress monitoring tools Co-design and supervise Tier 2 interventions; may lead small-group literacy instruction as demonstration Support principals with school-wide literacy events, scheduling, literacy plan, and leadership team meetings Role in the MTSS team and help implement and sustain the MTSS framework for literacy instruction. xrczosw Support teachers in completing and monitoring RIMPs in required grade levels.
