Montgomery County Public Health Services' Tobacco Enforcement Program plays a vital role in protecting youth from tobacco exposure by conducting state-mandated compliance checks. As part of our team, you'll help coordinate compliance visits, collect and organize critical data, educate retailers on the importance of adhering to tobacco laws, and assist in enforcing tobacco laws. This Term Code Enforcement Inspector III position plays a critical role in supporting Montgomery County's Tobacco Program by ensuring compliance with state-mandated tobacco regulations. By conducting compliance checks, maintaining accurate records, and educating retailers, this role helps protect public health, especially youth, by reducing access to tobacco products. The position serves as a key liaison between the Tobacco Program, retailers, and community stakeholders, ensuring enforcement efforts align with the County's broader tobacco prevention initiatives. This position is essential in promoting a healthier Montgomery County by ensuring retailers follow tobacco laws, reducing youth exposure, and supporting broader public health goals. Compliance Inspections & Enforcement Conduct daily compliance inspections of tobacco retailers throughout Montgomery County. Data Management & Documentation Process and complete required compliance documents promptly. Develop and manage a compliance schedule to facilitate retailer inspections. Education & Community Engagement Support outreach initiatives aimed at reducing youth access to tobacco products. Administrative & Other Duties Assist in preparing materials for Tobacco Coalition meetings. Perform administrative enforcement tasks as assigned by the Tobacco Program Manager. Complete required state and local related enforcement trainings within the first 90 days of employment and on-going as required for the position. This position requires working in the field. Remote or hybrid work schedules are not available. The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a medical exam, drug screening, and a background check. Montgomery County Ethics Law : Except as provided by law or regulation, the County's "Public Employees" (which does not include employees of the Sheriff's office) are subject to the County's ethics law including the requirements to obtain advanced approval of any outside employment and the prohibitions on certain outside employment.
