JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Emergency Medicine Physician • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Jefferson, IA • Service Setting: Inpatient • Coverage Type: Clinical Only • Coverage Period: Starting December 22, 2025 Open/Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: 7a 7p and 7p 7a daily COVERAGE DATES • Start Date: December 22, 2025• End Date: Open/Ongoing PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adult and pediatric emergency cases • Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 3,000 annual visits (average 8 patients per day)• Admissions: Yes • Phone Consults: Yes, as required for patient transfers or specialty referrals • Case Mix: General emergency medicine cases across all age groups FACILITY INFORMATION • Specialty Backup Available: Limited, no NPPA coverage • Support Staff Available: Nursing and ancillary ED staff • Reason for Coverage: Full-time vacancy PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Temporary Privileges Available: Yes, for clean files • Credentialing Timeline: days • Orientation: Conducted on-site as part of credentialing process COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Rate Structure: Daily overtime after 12 hours (based on differential); weekly overtime after 168 hours (based on fixed)• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • General emergency medical evaluation and stabilization • Management of trauma and acute medical conditions • Airway management, intubation, and resuscitation procedures • Coordination of transfers and consultation with specialty services JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active Iowa medical license • Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine • DEA: Active DEA Certification • Certifications: • EM-boarded physicians: No additional life certifications required • FM/IM physicians: ACLS, ATLS, and PALS required and must be current • Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred; prior community ED experience ideal • Other Qualifications: Ability to work independently without NPPA coverage; flexibility for day and night shifts DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting to the ED • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a full spectrum of urgent and emergent medical conditions • Perform and supervise emergency procedures as clinically indicated • Communicate effectively with nursing and ancillary staff to ensure patient safety and efficient throughput • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation • Adhere to facility policies, safety standards, and compliance requirements • Collaborate with hospital administration to ensure consistent coverage and high-quality patient outcomes
